Argentina's president reacted to Cher's campaign to free Arturo, the polar bear

"We not only have to worry about endangered species... we should take care of the main species that is the human", replied Cristina Kirchner, in reference to the singer's harsh words on Twitter.

Cher surprised this weekend with a Twitter campaign to promote the freedom of polar bear Arturo, who has been living in the Mendoza Zoo in Argentina for the past 20 years, where his health has deteriorated due to the poor conditions of his habitat. The insitution has received many complaints from many organizations on this matter.

Paraphrasing the musical Evita, Cher wrote: "Don't cry for him Argentina? No tears from Cristina Fernández de Kirchner for tortured Arthur, the polar bear. Her hands are stained with his blood when he dies", the singer wrote bluntly, before going on to encourage her follwers to denounce the poor coinditions in which the animal is being kept in Mendoza's Zoo.
